Restoring a Legacy at Oregon
In college, I helped re-install the historic Alpha Sigma Chapter of Theta Chi at the University of Oregon.
Backstory
During my sophomore year of college, I joined a colony at the University of Oregon working to re-establish the Alpha Sigma Chapter of Theta Chi and earn full chapter status. As a group without a house or established infrastructure, we were focused on recruiting members and meeting the requirements needed to become an official chapter.
Recruitment was challenging, so most of our effort centered on building connections and selling the opportunity to become a founding father. I recognized early on that while the status angle helped, the real gap was in the social experience we were offering compared to established fraternities.
To help address that, I became the fraternity DJ and focused on improving the energy and consistency of our events. By elevating the music and overall atmosphere at our parties, I helped make our social events more engaging and appealing to both guests and potential recruits.
Over a year and a half, recruitment steadily increased, and the colony eventually reached full chapter status with more than 50 members.
