Bitcoin Gets the Drake Co-sign

In 2024, I launched a Bitcoin-themed Instagram account, and one of my reels went viral—earning 3.3 million views after Drake reposted it.

Backstory

In late 2023, I had just completed Anthony Pompliano’s Crypto Academy, and I was becoming deeply immersed in Bitcoin. I was spending hours on X learning about the asset, following the market, and consuming everything I could find as anticipation built around the upcoming spot Bitcoin ETF launch. As January 11, 2024 approached—the day the first U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs would begin trading—I noticed something that caught my attention: an enormous amount of Bitcoin content was being created in anticipation of the event. CNBC clips, financial news segments, infographics, memes, commentary, and short-form videos were filling my feed.

I found myself constantly saving the posts that made me laugh, taught me something, or simply caught my attention. Eventually, I realized I had developed a habit of collecting Bitcoin content—and that there was an opportunity to share that collection with other people. Instead of making someone spend hours searching X or following countless accounts to find the best Bitcoin content, I could do the filtering for them and bring the highlights together in one place.

That realization led me to create Bitcoin Memes Daily (@bitcoin_memes_daily). I would save the videos and images I discovered on X to my phone and repost them to Instagram, turning something I was already doing for my own enjoyment into a page built around discovering and sharing the best Bitcoin content I could find.

The timing couldn't have been better. Bitcoin was emerging from the crypto winter phase of its four-year cycle, while the January spot ETF launch and highly anticipated April halving gave people even more reasons to pay attention. The combination created a powerful period of renewed excitement around Bitcoin—and a steady stream of content for the page.

Then something I never expected happened: one of my Reels was shockingly reposted by Drake. That gave the account a major boost in visibility and helped accelerate its growth. I still actively post today, particularly when Bitcoin approaches all-time highs, when public interest and engagement tend to climb.
