Elon Musk Is Erwin Smith from Attack on Titan

Elon Musk Is Erwin Smith from Attack on Titan

I just wrapped up watching Attack on Titan, and wow—it really hit me. If you haven’t seen it, it’s this intense Japanese anime where humanity’s last stronghold exists behind massive walls to protect themselves from terrifying giants called Titans who randomly eat people. The story centers around Eren Yeager, his adoptive sister Mikasa, and their friend Armin as they join the military to fight back and uncover the truth about the Titans and their world.

One character that really stood out to me was Commander Erwin—he leads the Scout Regiment, always chasing answers beyond the walls. And honestly, he reminded me a lot of Elon Musk. Both are driven by this deep, almost obsessive curiosity to understand the unknown. Erwin was always asking what’s outside the walls—what’s really out there. Elon’s doing the same thing, just on a galactic scale.

Think of it like this: the people in Attack on Titan live within these enormous walls, totally unaware of the world beyond. Kind of like how we are with space. We know there’s more out there, but our understanding is still so limited. In the show, some people have the power to transform into Titans. Here on Earth, our unique “power” is consciousness—and Elon seems obsessed with figuring out what that means beyond our planet.

I like to imagine that Elon’s long-term vision includes building a real-life Starfleet Academy—kind of like the Survey Corps from AOT. Not to fight Titans, of course, but to help humanity break out of our own "Wall Maria" and become a spacefaring civilization.
