Gratitude Through the Years: A Letter to Lyle
Hey Lyle,
I just wanted to drop you a note to express my gratitude for being the absolute best friend a guy could ever have. Seriously, every day I thank my lucky stars that I know you because, man, you're the coolest kid I've ever met.
Looking back, it's crazy to realize that we've practically done everything together. I still vividly remember spotting you on the playground at Holy Family School, doing your thing, and thinking, "That looks pretty fun! Screw kickball."
It's wild to think that fate brought us to this earth at the same time, placed our houses only blocks away, had us attend the same grade school, and eventually, the same high school. We've been friends for about 12 years now, and it's mind-blowing to consider what that kind of friendship can do to a person. In those 12 years, I truly believe that you've been a major influence on me.
You were the one who got me into Boy Scouting, introduced me to the world of Yu-Gi-Oh, and fueled my love for Dragon Ball Z.
Remember the times we flew kites in Door County? Or all those afternoons spent playing Bond 007 Nightfire after school? And let's not forget the countless sleepovers where we stayed up all night playing Xbox. Oh, and the imaginative adventures we had on the blacktop – good times.
I still recall checking my school schedule every year, hoping you'd be in one of my classes. Back then, I thought you were cool, and guess what? Nothing's changed. I don't care what others think; you're still the definition of cool to me.
No matter where life takes you, whatever friend groups you find yourself in, and whatever endeavors you pursue, remember this – I'll always be your friend, I'll always have your back, and I'll always make time for you. You've done so much for me, Lyle, and I can't thank you enough.
Cheers to more years of friendship!
